I received a notification on Friday last week that the Retained EU Bill had reached the report stage at the House of Lords and currently it is still on track for taking effect in December 2023. There is a possibility of extension to 2026 but there is no suggestion of using that extension for the time being. Although this Bill does NOT mean that there will be the baby thrown out with the bath water i.e. it will not disrupt such favourites as TUPE, the Working Time Regulations, Agency Regulations and Part Time Workers’ Regulations, it is still likely to have an impact on the future map of English employment law. Expect to see more in the press on this towards the end of the year and I will try to keep you updated too.
