In this edition:

• An ET awards £291,000 for unfair dismissal and harassment after an employee blew the whistle about falsely elevated profit in a newly acquired business and was called a “Gypo” and told he looked like a ‘tinker’.
• A survey of 1,106 senior decision makers in business shows employers are living in the dark ages over recruitment of pregnant women and new mothers, according to the EHRC.
• The EAT hold that compensation for the detriment suffered by firefighters as a result of a breach of the Working Time Regulations could include an award for injury to feelings.
• The Employment Rights (Increase of Limits) Order 2018 will increase employment tribunal compensation limits and minimum awards payable where the appropriate date falls on or after 6 April 2018.
