Co- Head of the Music Department Alasdair George acted for the founder of Cooking Vinyl, Martin Goldschmidt, on the sale of the company to US-based Exceleration Music. Cooking Vinyl has consistently been at the forefront of the digital revolution and evolution since it was created in 1986. Martin will remain as Chairman of Cooking Vinyl, and Rob Collins will continue as its Managing Director.
Alasdair said: “I’m delighted to have acted for Martin and to have been involved in helping create a strategic partnership which will draw on the enormous talents of both the Cooking Vinyl team and the Exceleration Music team. This deal gives artists a fantastic opportunity to work with a combined business run by people with huge experience and who truly understand the needs of the artist.”
The deal will strengthen the companies’ positions in each other’s respective markets and provide independent artists and labels worldwide with a more powerful, integrated, multi-territory offering. Cooking Vinyl will integrate into Redeye’s industry-leading distribution platform and gain access to Exceleration’s global infrastructure, significantly expanding its growth opportunities worldwide. Exceleration, meanwhile, will be able to tap into Cooking Vinyl’s renowned artist marketing expertise.
The deal has been reported by Music Business Worldwide.
