SMB are delighted to confirm we have chosen our 2019 charity of the year, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a charity dedicated to preventing male suicide.
Founded over 10 years ago, CALM supports young men who suffer from mental health issues, low self-esteem or anxiety and depression and aims to raise awareness of these issues and their impact on society.
SMB staff chose CALM through a firm voting process and will support the charity through different initiatives including fundraising events organised by our dedicated CSR team.
SMB’s Managing Partner, Razi Mireskandari, has said:
“CALM is an excellent charity who do great work in understanding the causes of male suicide. We look forward to supporting CALM over the coming year through various fundraising events and also through partnering with them to support their frontline work.”
Simon Gunning, CEO of CALM, said:
“We’re hugely grateful to SMB for choosing CALM as their charity of the year for 2019 and of course to Richard Baskind for his brilliant ongoing support as a Trustee. CALM works to help people enjoy happier lives through cultural change and the provision of a helpline for those at the point of crisis. Whilst suicide remains the single biggest killer of men under 45 in the UK partnerships like this allow us to continue the work that in 2018 directly prevented 675 suicides.”
Further details on this charity partnership will be posted via Twitter (@smablaw) throughout the year.
In a judgment handed down on Tuesday 19th January, SMB won a claim to recover the domain name blackjack.com on behalf of our client, Hanger Holdings.
