At the same time as the Chief Medical Officer calls for a worldwide ban on the use of antibiotics as growth promoters for livestock, SMB client, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism’s latest superbugs investigation published this week provides the evidence. Uncovered through working with journalists on the ground, The Bureau exposed how the “last-hope” antibiotic, colistin, is being routinely fed to chickens on poultry farms in India. The story was published with the Times, the Guardian, the Hindu and the Lancet Infectious Diseases Journal.
On 14 March, SMB was instructed by former postmaster, Lee Castleton OBE, to issue proceedings in the High Court against the Post Office and Fujitsu.
