In this edition:
• The EAT hold that a failure to pay a father enhanced parental leave pay was not direct sex discrimination as the correct comparator was a woman on parental leave who would be treated in exactly the same way.
• The IWGB union files a claim for judicial review challenging the decision by the CAC to not hear an application for union recognition for the purposes of collective bargaining on behalf of a university’s outsourced workers
• The ICO has produced an online ‘lawful basis interactive guidance tool’ to give tailored guidance on which lawful basis is likely to be most appropriate for an organisation’s data processing activities.
• The BEIS Committee is conducting an inquiry into compliance by private business with gender pay gap reporting and to consider what steps they are taking to address the gap.

The Birmingham County Court has today handed down judgment in favour of long standing SMB client, Mohammed Arif, a veteran Cabinet Member and former Conservative Councillor for St Matthew’s, concluding proceedings relating to his discrimination claim against officers of the former Walsall Conservative Federation (now the Walsall and Bloxwich Association).
