Employment Law Weekly News Update

In this edition:

• An ET finds racial harassment occurred where a tutor wrote the word ‘n****r’ on a flip chart during equality and diversity training, during a “what are discriminatory words” session, and it was repeated 3 times.
• A report by Crowe finds that recruitment fraud – someone lying about their experience, qualifications, employment history or previous integrity to help gain employment – costs the UK up to £23b.
• A new analysis by the TUC shows that workers in the UK are putting in the longest hours in the EU, working two hours more than the EU average – equivalent to an extra two and a half weeks a year.
• The ICO has reminded organisations that new data protection legislation does not stop them from disclosing personal data to assist police forces or other law enforcement authorities to save lives and stop crime.
