Simons Muirhead Burton are delighted to announce that our chosen Charity of the Year 2020 is The Honeypot Children’s Charity. This amazing charity offers consistent support to young carers, ages 5 to 12, when they have nowhere else to turn. It is their aim to provide nurturing for both the children’s mental health and physical wellbeing. Through donations, fundraising and volunteering, Honeypot can consistently offer outreach support and respite breaks to these young carers.
Through a firmwide vote, SMB chose to support Honeypot for the year of 2020. We will be arranging a number of fundraising initiatives and events throughout the year, with our incredible CSR team working closely with Honeypot to achieve these. Previously, such events have included our very own SMB Sports Day, a charity quiz night, and a 4-day bike ride from London to Amsterdam which raised over £7,000 alone.
Anthony Cummings, Director of Income and Communications at the Honeypot Children’s Charity, has this to say:
“All at Honeypot look forward, with great expectation, to a year of working closely with each and every member of SMB staff in a genuine partnership to deliver an exciting 12 month plan of engaging events, activities and challenges.
We relish the prospect of a year of SMB’s staff bringing their skills, energy and enthusiasm to help develop Honeypot’s capacity and capabilities to support even more young carers in England and Wales. From all at Honeypot to all at SMB thank you most sincerely for caring for the carers.”
Razi Mireskandari, SMB’s Managing Partner, commented:
“The (sometimes astonishingly) young carers that The Honeypot Children’s Charity supports are all heroes. I am not surprised that Honeypot was voted as our Charity of the Year. I hope our contributions will help to make a real change in these young carers’ lives.”
We are looking forward to working with The Honeypot Children’s Charity and seeing what we can achieve together. Keep a look out on our Twitter and LinkedIn pages as we will be posting about fundraising events and donation opportunities throughout the year.
