Oscar nominated and Bafta award winning director Michael Radford came to SMB after a film-related litigation with European co-producers had ended badly and he needed the best representation to fight a costs order against him and his partners.
The opposing Solicitors had initiated costs proceedings seeking payment of over £800,000. After hard fought litigation (including an appeal to the Court of Appeal) the matter was recently settled on the basis that the payment would be reduced to £165,000 inclusive of interest, a reduction of nearly 80% on the original sum the opposing solicitors had claimed was owed to them.
On 14 March, SMB was instructed by former postmaster, Lee Castleton OBE, to issue proceedings in the High Court against the Post Office and Fujitsu.
