Simons Muirhead Burton LLP (SMB) has been working with client Leathwaites, the human capital specialist, to help implement and negotiate terms of investment from Beechbrook Capital.
Our long-term collaborators, corporate finance firm Livingstone Partners made the introduction. The deal was led by SMB partners Peter Weiss (who ran the investment side) and Natalie Wright (who advised on the corporate restructuring) and was successfully completed on 16th March.
This new investment has been secured to enable Leathwaite’s plans of accelerated geographic expansion, launch new business streams and invest in proprietary technology and SMB has helped secure investment to enable these plans to be achieved. This was achieved by a complex corporate restructuring which meant that the founders can take advantage of the new energy this brings as well as incentivisation for the key leaders within the team.
Martin Phillips, the founding partner of Leathwaites, has said of SMB:
“The team at SMB have all in their own way been a pleasure to deal with. You have remained calm at all time and have kept us updated throughout the process.
“I must add you have the most fantastic team supporting you. As we grow our business, we look forward to working with you as our lawyers.”
Simons Muirhead Burton is pleased to have acted for founders of employee benefits specialists Drewberry Limited on their sale to global insurance leader Brown & Brown.
