In 2023, SMB supported St John’s Hospice as our Charity of the Year in memory of our beloved friend and dearly missed colleague, Russell Winn.
We are delighted to announce that we raised a whopping £30,078.40, which will go toward supporting people with life-limiting illnesses and their families. St John’s amazing work includes providing community care, hospice care at home, inpatient care, welfare and bereavement support, and we’re thrilled that these funds are going towards such a fantastic cause.
Over the course of the year, our diligent colleagues fundraised in a multitude of ways, from bake sales to abseils, a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and 70’s and 80’s nights (with some excellent fancy dress), as well as pushing ourselves with activities such as skydiving, marathons and a London to Brighton bike ride. We also channelled our inner Picasso with a Sip and Paint evening, recreating Van Gogh’s Starry Night, as well as other creative activities.
In addition to raising money, we held a donation drive for items that could be donated to the St John’s Hospice charity shop as well as items that could be given to those using St John’s services.
Items donated included blankets, toiletries and reed diffusers that could be given to in-patients as Christmas gifts as well as sweet and savoury treats that could be enjoyed by patients and staff over the festive period.
Speaking on SMB’s efforts this year, Managing Partner Razi Mireskandari said: “Our choice to support St John’s Hospice is not only in recognition of the incredible work that the charity performs each day, but also as the charity that took care of our dear friend and colleague, Russell Winn. Thank you very much to all who got involved – we couldn’t have done it without you.”
We thoroughly enjoyed supporting St John’s and are soon going to announce our Charity of the Year for 2024. We hope for another incredibly successful year.
We are delighted to announce that Corporate partner, David Martin, and associate Tim Graham completed the London Marathon last week, raising money for two charitable causes.
