In the Crown Court at Aldersgate House, Central London, yesterday our client Christopher Hennessy was cleared of assault occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. The finance professor at a prestigious London university, was unanimously acquitted by a jury who deliberated for just one hour.
After his acquittal Professor Hennessy said “I am extremely relieved at the verdict and would like to thank my legal team, Trevor Burke QC and Simons Muirhead Burton, solicitors. I am glad the jury have seen the incident in its full context and reached the correct verdict unanimously”
Lead Partner, Phil Smith said “The jury accepted that our client was acting in self-defence during this incident. He is a man of impeccable character, described by the Trial Judge as an academic and truly an honourable gentleman”.
