It is rare to see a lawyer credited in an autobiography, let alone dedicated a couple of pages.
Recently released, ‘A Very Tall Story’, is the hilarious, moving, and soul-searching account of Martin Bayfield’s journey from police officer and rugby player in the 1990s, during the golden age of rugby, to presenter, speaker, and body double in Harry Potter. Standing at 6 foot 10 inches, Martin remains one of the tallest players ever to have played international rugby, making him a formidable forward in the world game. He played for England during one of the most successful eras in English rugby, winning two Grand Slams.
It was rugby that also brought Martin in contact with Simon, who was at the same rugby-related event at Grosvenor House in London. A specialist in Film & TV, Simon’s timing in meeting Martin was fortuitous indeed, as it happened that Martin had just begun his new career in film as the body double of Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid the Giant in the Harry Potter films and needed specialist help and advice. Simon took on Martin’s contracts with Warner Brothers from that moment on, improving them with each new film in the series, and spotting every opportunity to get a better deal.
Congratulations to Martin on his wonderful memoir, and to Simon for his great work, as always. If you have any need of advice in matters relating to media, film & tv, please don’t hesitate to contact Simon Goldberg.
