Simons Muirhead Burton’s Music team has advised the shareholders of Arctic Rights Management, the largest independent music publisher in Norway, on the sale of the company to US publisher Peermusic.
The sale covers rights to Arctic Rights Management’s catalogue of over 5,000 recordings and compositions, including songs performed by Dua Lipa, Katy Perry and Alan Walker. Peermusic now has 39 offices in 32 countries and over 200 employees worldwide.
The sellers were advised by Richard Baskind and Alasdair George, partners in Simons Muirhead Burton’s Music team, supported by associate Rachelle Senghor.
Speaking on the sale SMB’s head of Music, Richard Baskin, said: “Alasdair and I are delighted to have worked with Arctic Rights Managements and have been a part of their journey from their formation having worked with its founder, Kai Robole, for more than 20 years.
That Peer Music have chosen to expand its presence in Scandinavia by way of the purchase of Arctic Rights Managements is testament to the incredible business that Kai and Kerstin, in particular, have built at Arctic Rights.”
