However, as has long been recognised, the next phase of the challenge lies in scaling those businesses – supporting their journey from early-stage success to internationally competitive enterprises.

As highlighted by Stephen Page, Head of Investments at SFC Capital, innovation in the UK extends far beyond London and financial services, with world-leading expertise emerging across industries. This breadth was clearly on display throughout the summit.

Alongside this optimism, the discussions also pointed to the critical role of government in unlocking further growth. While initiatives led by the British Business Bank and contributions from leaders at the Civil Service, demonstrate meaningful progress, there is a clear opportunity for bolder action. Expanding existing schemes and continuing to evolve the SEIS and EIS regimes could play a key role in encouraging investment and increasing capital flows into UK businesses.
